Dr. Margarita Pena graduated from Northwestern University, received her medical degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago, and completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at Michigan State University-affiliated Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan in 1994 where she was chief resident. She has been with the St. John Emergency Medicine Program since its inception in 1994, is currently the Associate Program Director and holds the position of Clinical Professor at Wayne State University College of Medicine. She is also the Medical Director for the Clinical Decision Unit at St. John Hospital and Medical Center. In 2017, Dr. Pena served as the Principal Investigator in the first clinical trial studying CardioFlux in patients with suspected acute coronary syndromes.
